22.07.14 - Closing in

Hey guys, 4 days to go before I leave Finland. It led me to think through what I have learn here. All I can emphasize is the independence while living a life depending on our own or a few friends. Coming here really taught me to be more independent in terms of learning, if you are inspired to improve specific skills and use it to contribute into society, you would strongly be benefited through self learning experience. Share whatever you've learn with your friends and help one another. Contents of education are everywhere in the web or the whole. Finland just bring it to a different approach compared to Singapore. More laid back but more independent. Can't wait to expect whats ahead in Singapore again.. I am so gonna miss the fresh air in Finland. :((((

14.07.14 - Source of Inspiration
Finland has taught me a lot of things Singapore couldn't afford to, or wouldn't have.
Finland will never leave out the balance between work and recreation. I personally feel that design work always have to be fueled by our own inspirations, but where does all this inspiration come from? From my perception, it is fueled by our recreation activities.. But anyway here is just something I did yesterday. It was fun practicing topology.

I recently talked to one of my local school friend regarding what we learn here in Finland. And I remembered thinking that education is always there in Finland and Singapore. The only contrast between both country's education is their approach. We are studying in a university for our exchange program so definitely things have to be worked more independent, thus most things are self taught.

05.07.14 - From Simple to Complex

Hey guys, today I decided to revert back to practicing my fundamentals on digital painting. I felt stressed out because I wasn't doing anything much here. I felt a need to do something, so I went on to practice some fundamentals again (even though I learned it before.) I also learn alot from this guy called Matt Kohr who is a concept artist who offer free tutorials which is really helpful. He mention that everything you start to learn starts from the simple things to the complex, you would never approach things complex from the start which I will remember and hold on dearly. And also to practice it like a habit (for example cycling) to keep improving your skills. If we didn't polish it, it will rust...

27.06.14 - Half Time
Hey guys, I am having summer projects now. It started 3 weeks ago. We were told to split among our own Singapore group of people. They are amazing people to work with, we actually work on a major school game project once, so it really bond us closer when we worked on this current one. We are making mobile games catered for Android app store.

This is just a glimpse of our game. Now I know how hard a good game is to make. But hopefully we would work out ok for this project. We only have 4 weeks left. (T_T) Time flies real fast.

11.06.14- Summer Projects
Hey guys, 46+- days left before I leave Finland. Time flies real fast.
I am actually working on the first and last summer project in Finland.
We only have 2 months to work on this project, and our team has put a lot of effort to polish our game idea to a "decently" good game idea.

Our team consist of 2 programmers and 2 artist including me. As there are 2 types of job that has different skill set, it really opens up our mind to look at other's perspective in terms of ideas and etc. For example, artist may not notice they could visualize things easier than programmers, or they require something to see in other to be the same page as you. Lastly to think technically for our game, is it possible to work in terms of programming? How long? All this questions we have to voice it out. In fact we spent at least 4 days to made final decisions in the game idea. Now I realize if this is what I strive in the future for a job, making an decent earning through the gaming industry is a like a lottery.

31.05.14 - Sweden Trip

Hey, I have been out to Sweden from 21st May to 27th May, it was a tiring yet fulfilling and worth going trip! And it could be once in a lifetime experience that we might not be here again. It was hot and sunny for the first 6 days, we walked aaalllllllllooooottttttt. And brought a number of gifts and souvenirs too. But I have chosen a few photos to show you guys what we have been seeing in Sweden.

20.05.14- Once a life time...
Here are some photos on where we have went to! It was one of the most amazing and fun places we went in Kajaani.

And tomorrow, I am leaving Finland to go to Sweden, Stockholm! For vacation. And once after that, opportunity on working in a game industry approaches! And I have been working on the Beetle car project.
